What are Motor Disorders?
Motor disorders are neurodevelopmental disorders related to movements. These disorders include Developmental coordination disorder, Stereotypic movement disorder and Tic disorder. Motor disorders are due to any abnormality on central nervous system and due to any damage in brain the movement become involuntary, these movements become uncontrolled
like jerks, tremors and gait problem. The damages in brain cause abnormal body movements which can increase or decrease the intensity of body movements, these movements can be under the person’s control called voluntary movements, or are not under the person’s control and these are called involuntary movements.
The children who are developing motor disorder shows delay in achieving milestones for example climbing stairs or doing other physical activity relevant to age. Some of the children have motor tics.
Developmental coordination disorder | Coordination motor skills during developmental period are low as expected to chronic age of the individual. Slow and clumsy motor skills are shown by the individual. |

Tourette disorder | In Tourette disorder child shown motor and vocal tic movements but these movements are not recurrent. These movements are shown during the developmental stage of life for approx. duration of one year. |
Vocal and motor tic disorder | Multiple or single tic movements are shown by the child for about the duration of an year, these can be shown daily or for multiple times a day. |
